This is a collection of officially published paintings from the beginning of the early years of Waseda; the works were produced between 2013 and 2015. However, naming it as a collection of paintings is not very accurate. The reason is that “Shofu” is not a simple series of paintings, but a whole story.
Hayao depicted such a story in her own unique ink style and incredibly high quality painting technique. It gracefully tells of a young knight’s journey from the deep mountains, sword fights in all directions, a journey through Wonderland, the slaying and eradication of demons, and dusting off the dust to see the Buddha.
This is a two-year retreat work by Waseda. The content is so rich that one cannot forget the aftermath of every page. The complete expression of this work can face a variety of critical eyes. Its completeness is also high enough to meet all expectations.
